Anti Ragging Committee

Ragging means:

Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student.
Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student.
Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher.
Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.
Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students.
Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person;
Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, posts, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student;
Any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.

Objectives of Anti Ragging Committee:

The Anti ragging committee should meet periodically to review the situation and initiate effective measures.
The committee as a whole or in separate group shall undertake surprise visits to college and Hostels frequently and make sure that no incidents of ragging have been taking place.
The flying squad continuously and at all time shall take precautionary measures to see no ragging takes place inside the class room, with in the college premises, hostel premises and other surrounding places.

College Internal Complaints Committee/Anti Sexual Harassment Committee

Anti Sexual Harassment Squad / College Internal Complainants Committee :

Objectives of the committees are:

Prevent discrimination and sexual harassment against women, by promoting gender amity among students and employees.
Deal with cases of discrimination and sexual harassment against women in a time bound manner, aiming at ensuring support services to the victimized and termination of the accused.

Procedure for approaching the committee:

A written complaint may be addressed to the convener of the committee or can be dropped in a drop box. The complaint can be a raised because of the following reasons:

1. Physical contact and advances
2. Demand or request for sexual favors
3. Sexually pornography
4. Unwelcome physical, verbal or non verbal conduct of a sexual nature.

The following is also sexual harassment and is covered by the committee :

1. Eve-teasing
2. unpleasant remarks
3. jokes causing or likely to cause embarrassment
4. Innuedos and taunts
5. gender based insults or sexist remarks
6. social media forwards of any unpleasant forwards
7. touching or brushing against any part of the body
8. Forcible physical touch or molestation
9. violating one's privacy

Functions:

1. To ensure provision of a work and educational environment that is free from sexual harassment (Sexual harassment is defined by law from the perspective of the person who feels they have been harassed and it occurs if the person who feels they have been harassed feels offended, humiliated, or intimidated by the conduct and it is reasonable, in all the circumstances that the person who feels they have been harassed would feel offended, humiliated or intimidated).
2. To take all reasonable steps (active and preventive in nature) to prevent the harassment occurring; To address any oral/written complaint about: unwelcome sexual advances, unsolicited acts of physical intimacy, unwelcome requests for sexual favors or other unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature. Unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature includes oral or written statements of a sexual nature to a person, or in a person's presence.
3. Obtain high level support from the management and Principal for implementing a comprehensive strategy: Providing information to all staff and students about what constitutes sexual harassment and about their responsibility not to sexually harass other staff and students 61 Providing information and training to staff conducting teaching and learning activities on meeting their responsibilities in relation to maintaining a work and study environment free from sexual harassment.
4. Develop a written policy which prohibits sexual harassment. Complaints of sexual harassment are handled separately for staff and students under the Staff Complaints Policy and Sexual Harassment Complaints Resolution Procedures for students.
5. Regularly distribute and promote the policy at all levels of the organization; Ensure that Hod's discuss and reinforce the policy at staff meetings; Provide the policy and other relevant information on sexual harassment to new staff as a standard part of induction; Periodically review the policy to ensure it is operating effectively and contains up to date information.
6. Display anti-sexual harassment posters on notice boards in common work areas and distribute relevant brochures; Conduct regular awareness for all staff on sexual harassment issues.
7. Ensure that complaints processes are clearly documented, are explained to all employees, address complaints in a manner which is fair, timely and confidential also give an undertaking that no employee will be victimized or disadvantaged for making a complaint.

Grievance Redressal Committee

Functions:

1. In order to comply with the AICTE Regulation for addressing, student or Parent's grievance in a Technical Institution,
2. Grievance Redressal Committee of Sri Krishna Institute of Technology has been constituted with following Staff in different positions to en quire the nature and extent of grievance.
3. The functions of the Committee are to look into the complaints lodged by any student, and judge its merit.
4. The Grievance Redressal Committee is also empowered to look into matters of harassment.
5. Anyone with a genuine grievance may approach the Grievance Redressal Committee members in person.
6. In case the person is unwilling to appear in self, grievances may be sent in writing.
7. The objective of the Grievance Redressal Committee is to develop a responsive and accountable attitude among all the stakeholders.

SC / ST / Welfare Cell

Functions :

According to the UGC Guidelines of 1998, following are the functions of the Cell to:

1. Circulate GOI and Commission’s decisions and to collect regularly, on an annual basis, information regarding course-wise admissions to candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the Universities and Colleges for different courses, in suitable forms prescribed, by a stipulated date, and to take follow up action, where required;
2. Circulate GOI orders and Commission’s decisions and to collect information in respect of appointment, training of these communities in teaching and nonteaching posts in the Universities and Colleges, in suitable forms by a stipulated date and take follow up action where required;
3. Collect reports and information regarding the GOI orders on the various aspects of education, training and employment of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, for evolving new policies or modifying existing policy by the Commission;
4. Analyse information on admissions, education, training and employment of SCs and STs, and prepare reports and digests for onward transmission to the Ministry of Human Resource Development/University Grants Commission and such other authorities as may be required;
5. Deal with representations received from Scheduled Castes and Tribes candidates regarding their admission, recruitment, promotion and other similar matters in Universities/Colleges;
6. Monitor the working of the remedial coaching scheme, if approved in the affiliated colleges and university;
7. Function as a Grievances Redressal Cell for the grievances of SC/ST students and employees of the university and render them necessary help in solving their academic as well as administrative problems;
8. Maintain a register for employment of SCs/STs in the University and Colleges for the candidates belonging to SC/ST community for various posts in the university/ colleges; and
9. Any other work assigned from time to time to promote higher education among these two communities suffering economic, social and educational deprivations.

FUNCTIONS:

Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC) scheme aims to set up a cell where the skills required to become an Entrepreneur are developed.

Around 125 students participated in the event. Mr. Rahul Reddy and Kunal Menon were the resource persons of the event. Both shared their knowledge through ppt and interactive questionare on Global Education and various opportunities in that field.

Armed Forces as a Career Opportunity

To promote career awareness amongst the youth for appearing in various competitive examinations on Friday 21st April 2023 at 10:30 AM in SKIT AUDITORIUM. Around 150 students participated in the event. COL SREEKUMARP and alumni of IMA Dehradun was the resource person of the event. He shared his knowledge through presentation and interactive videos on military service and various opportunities in that field.

The objective of the II Cell is to reduce the gap between industry expectations (practice) and academic offerings (theory) by direct involvement of industry to attain a symbiosis.
The committee should create a database of internship, projects and placement providing industries and help the students for the same.

Youth Red Cross Society (YRC)

Functions

The main objective of proctors is to assist students in their growth and development by constructing meaningful educational plans which are compatible with their life goals.
It is a continuous and consistent process which is built upon the basis of frequent, accumulated personal contacts between advise or and advise (student). Excellent academic programs will not accomplish the desired end result if students are not properly guided and counseled.
Thus, academic advising fosters the development of the whole student who is a self-directed, motivated, responsible decision-maker and encourages the successful completion of degree requirements and timely graduation.
The role of Proctors is an active rather than a passive one and the proctor is responsible for:
Assisting students(advisees) to identify their academic values and goals, consistent with their capabilities, interests, and educational backgrounds.
Clarifying pertinent information and discussing the implications toward students’ academic success.
Being accessible and available to students to respond to their questions and concerns.
Clarifying academic policies, College & University regulations, program requirements, procedures, promotion credit requirements and other college information.
Helping students to define and develop educational plans; assisting in the selection of appropriate course work and opportunities to achieve students’ goals.
Respecting students’ individual needs and diversity
Assisting students to independently monitor their progress toward achieving their educational and career goals
Informing students of the roles and responsibilities of the a proctor/student relationship
Proactively contact and be available for student advisees on a regular basis.
Conducting weekly meeting with advisees assigned to know their progress in studies, difficulty in understanding subjects, requirement of help sessions/remedial classes in specific subjects, if needed, conducting one to one meeting with the advisee to know their specific problems & arranging proper counseling to overcome their difficulties.
Identifying advisees having poor English communication skills and arranging special sessions/programmes through English faculty members for enhancing their English communication skills.
Consulting regularly with faculty colleagues handling courses for the advisees assigned, Student Counseling and Attendance Monitoring committee members in order to have up-to-date information about advisees.
Follow-up with the advisee on any report of unsatisfactory work, poor attendance, unsatisfactory performance in class tests/assignments and chalk out an action plan in discussion with concerned HOD & faculty members to improve advisee’s performance & oversee the implementation of the Help sessions/Remedial classes/tutoring.
